Ineffable Ontological Detanglement .: Introspective Assistance & Mental Analysis Manual

Depression: Foreword by Kit Carruthers
It isn't so much sadness anymore, it's just total emptiness nothing is going to give you joy, you can't entertain yourself out of it you're just sunk. It's probably your life telling you something, the chemical imbalance thing that people tell you about, yeah, your chemicals are imbalanced. Because of your life. Sometimes they're not, sometimes your brain is just fucked up and you need medication. Sometimes it's both.

The second you're diagnosed with depression, please don't get all excited and in your mind say "You mean now I get to say 'As a sufferer of depression...' three times a day?" American. It is not everything about you, don't fall for your societal urges to dehumanize yourself into humanistic psychology thinking. It's just inconvenient, and if all you have is the imbalance the chemical assistance will do it for you just fine, if the chemicals are not doing it for you it is due to your life and not your chemical imbalance and it is always fixable. Disorder is a pretty strong word, if you're absolutely drowning in it to the point that you're destroyed, again, it's life, the imbalance on it's own isn't going to do that to you.
